Black & White thinking leaves little room for Shades Of Gray ( which are so fun to play with tbh) and it can sometimes feel like your skin is being rubbed raw trying to fit onto either side of an imagined duality.

When what you *know* you want is mirrored by what you actually fear.

Wanting a beautiful, loving relationship But being terrified to show up and be accepted as a whole, beautiful, flawed-and-lovelier-for-it human.

Dreaming of a big opportunity While dreading the workload, time demands, and risk of burnout.

Longing to release your inner songstress While fearing rejection, shame, and pain from others.

Your shadow self is always lurking, waiting for a chance to jump out and scare lovingly direct you to the polarities that make existence so f%$#ing uncomfortable.

2023-06-02 18:00:00 Motherhood can reveal facets of yourself you never expected.

I never thought I could sing until my girls demanded singalongs in the car.

I thought my instrument was my body but it turns out I have an inner songstress!

And uncovering her has been a trip!

After a soul-baring voice lesson, I broke down in tears, crying to my inner siren “I’m trying so hard to meet you!”

But ‘you’ was me, the voice that sings my dancer to life that I haven’t felt safe enough to expose to the world.

She’s been trapped in my throat, underneath words I don’t say and emotions I choke down.

She’s been fighting to be heard, and I don’t know her!

My protector parts decided this dimension of myself was too much!

So I shut her down and doomed her to misery in my 5th chakra.

But now I’m setting her free, one chart-topping car ride at a time!

And who can call you out, put your in your place, and redirect your bulls#!t without wounding you, making you feel attacked, or injuring your relationship?

Believe it or not, my divorce attorney managed that last one without my lady-hackles raising — in fact, I kind of liked it.

When you’re in the presence of a man of discernment, who has a strong spine, and whose judgment you trust and respect — you want to feel that containment.

Even if it’s a professional relationship in a sterile conference room while you’re talking about your divorce.

I don’t think I’ve *ever* felt safe enough in my man’s masculine containment  to be held and directed.

(Besides maybe my forays into the BDSM world – more on that coming soon! )

Patriarchal messaging aside, my favorite TV show is so popular because it shows women a man:

‍ Who has his woman’s back (and an even stronger village of men at his back willing to defend her against all attackers)

 And regards her with such a clear gaze that it’s hard not to feel stripped naked on your couch as you binge watch their love story with kale chips and a glass of sparkling water w/ a splash of grapefruit juice (my mocktail of choice )

"I'm safest where I made this baby.”

“I'm safest, where I can dance.”

“I'm safest where I can be naked.”

“Where I can eat. Where I can relax.”

“Where I can look into my partner's eyes.”

“I'm safest where I can move and express.”

AND THAT IS NOT IN THE HOSPITAL.

The truth is: the hospital is not actually there for a woman's experience.

It's there for quantifiable outcomes.

2023-05-23 02:46:07 Have you ever buried your face in roses? As I close what feels like a rough & wild chapter of my life…

…And  move out of my current home (into one that feels like a delightfully unlikely manifestation that incubated inside of me for over a year )

… I commemorated this transition with a ritual.

For 11 days, I put my face in red roses (representing the feminine) inhaled deeply and said:

"I am loved, for all of me.”

And then in white roses representing the masculine and said:

"I am here, I am safe."

I slept with them by my bed, and put petals under my water vessel every day.

Then I bathed in the roses, offered them to this land and to the new space.

I believe rituals mark the threshold spaces of change in our lives and activate collectively held subconscious energies for expansion.
