Neutral buoyancy laboratory

A pool that holds 23.5 million liters of water and full-size mock-ups of the ISS and spacecraft working modules.

This is where astronauts train to perform various operations in spacesuits and conditions close to weightlessness.

The hottest star

With a surface temperature of 210,000°C (!), WR 102 claims to be the hottest star known to us in the Universe.

WR 102 is a Wolf-Rayet oxygen star located 9,800 light-years from Earth in the Sagittarius constellation. It features high luminosity and stands very close to a supernova explosion.

As an ice giant, Neptune has no solid surface

What we see in the photographs are actually the tops of extremely deep gas clouds.

If a person tried to stand on one of these peaks, he would simply begin to fall through the gas layers of the planet.

The surface of Neptune is one of the most active and dynamic places in our entire solar system.

It takes 200 to 250 million years for the Sun to make a complete revolution around the galactic center

When dinosaurs roamed the Earth, our entire Solar System was on the opposite side of the Milky Way.

Airbus has created a 3D printer capable of building satellites from debris right in space

Airbus has developed the first 3D printer suitable for handling metal on the ISS. The Metal3D machine can work with metals that melt at temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Celsius, allowing astronauts to print radiation shields and various tools.

It will be the company's first step in setting up an orbiting satellite manufacturing plant.

The company will send the development to the ISS in 2023.

As the core of Mars began to cool, the planet's magnetic field weakened and then disappeared altogether.

This was the reason why the atmosphere practically escaped into space, taking the water with it.

Is there any data in the Bible about the size of the Universe?

Back when the Bible was written, there was no such thing as what we call "the universe" today.

At that time, the "universe" (Greek: "oikumene" or "cosmos") was all the inhabited Earth known to exist then. But even its dimensions are not explicitly mentioned in the Bible, for that was not the purpose of its authors.

Interesting facts about Mars

- Mars is the most Earth-like planet in the Solar System.

- The thin atmosphere of Mars consists mainly of carbon dioxide.

- The density of the Martian atmosphere is about 1% of the Earth's.

- Mars has no magnetic field.

- Due to the lack of an ozone layer, solar radiation on Mars is extremely dangerous.

- Gravity on Mars is two and a half times weaker than on Earth.

Astronomers discovered a young pulsar in a distant dwarf galaxy

It appeared in the sky no more than 14 years ago.

One of the youngest neutron stars has been found in a dwarf galaxy 395 million light-years from Earth. The object, designated VT 1137-0337, first appeared in survey data in January 2018, while it was absent from images of the same region of the sky in 1998.

The object resides in the dwarf galaxy SDSS J113706.18-033737.1, a star-forming galaxy that is experiencing a burst of star formation. Its mass is estimated to be about 100 million solar.
