Airbus has created a 3D printer capable of building satellites from debris right in space

Airbus has developed the first 3D printer suitable for handling metal on the ISS. The Metal3D machine can work with metals that melt at temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Celsius, allowing astronauts to print radiation shields and various tools.

It will be the company's first step in setting up an orbiting satellite manufacturing plant.

The company will send the development to the ISS in 2023.
