The rule "4 hours a week"

To invest time in your relationship may be more important than your workweek or what you eat.

There are 168 hours in a week and your relationship deserves at least 4 of them—non-negotiable, dedicated time, committed to you and your partner.

There’s an endless number of possible activities, and picking the right one isn’t just about doing something fun. Research shows that the key is to do activities that are New, Interesting, Challenging, and Exciting.

The Top 5 most self-expanding activities:

Sex
Showing affection (e.g., cuddling)
Laughing together (e.g., watch something funny)
Thinking about the future (e.g., planning a vacation together)
Going out (e.g., going to dinner, a movie, etc. ).

Research on ballroom dancing shows that couples who go dancing together report happier relationships.

Why do people blame others?

The reason why people usually blame others is that it's a quick escape from guilt. Blame is an incredibly easy and effortless tactic to use when we feel defensive. ... When we blame others, we refuse responsibility for our contributions to the problem.

When we blame others for our mistakes, we learn less and perform worse. Repeated blaming leads to decreased health and well-being. Blaming others and holding blame inside yourself creates a negative mental state.

Trick to influence : When someone is wrong, don’t point it out to them.

You may be tempted to correct someone who’s wrong, but never do that! As Dale Carnegie explains in his famous book, How To Win Friends And Influence People, pointing out someone’s mistakes does the reverse of making them fond of you. Directly telling a person that he/she is wrong hurts their ego to the very core. A polite conversation where you express your disagreement is a better way to go about it.
This technique is called Ransberger Pivot, by Ray Ransberger and Marshall Fritz. It’s pretty simple, they suggest that you don’t start arguing straight away, rather you listen and understand what they’re saying and how and why they feel the way they do. And when you begin talking, start by explaining the common ground that you share with the person, and then move on to explaining your views more deeply. This way you get a chance to correct them without hurting their ego, and they will actually listen to what you’re saying.
