2022-08-30 13:55:13 Italian runner Federico Barucco supported Russian athletes at the finish line of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc ultra-marathon.

Barucco finished the line in the Russian-flag coloured uniform and held a banner saying "Sport without borders" in his hands.

"I wanted to appeal to everyone who participated in the competition, and these are athletes from 120 countries. Sport should unite people, and any suspension is discrimination. I want to support Russian athletes - both leading and only beginners - who should not pay with their dreams and years of suffering".

The #WeCompeteAsOne Foundation team wants to express our solidarity with the statement of Federico as we are also convinced that sports should unite people all over the world.

Our team took part in this exciting event and really bonded Even though we didn't make it to the semifinals, we are incredibly proud of ourselves - after all the main aim is not victory but participation.

Our founder Nikita Mazepin is very happy about the Foundation's participation in such competitions: “A fantastic sporting event was held on the Rowing canal - The Cup created by the Ageev brothers and two Olympic champions, Yuri Postrigay and Alexander Dyachenko. The We Compete As One team of 11 people took part in the competition on the Dragon boats.

2022-08-17 12:51:34 The head of the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), law professor Richard McLaren, is arguing to return the opportunity for Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions.

He criticized the decision of the organizers of the European Championships in summer sports in Munich, according to which athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus were excluded from the competition.

“The way they are treated is unfair. Athletes were not the initiators of this conflict and are not responsible for its course. Those are two good reasons to let them participate again…If CAS decides in favor of athletes, the federations will be forced to allow them to perform”, - McLaren noted.

2022-08-12 11:15:21 The #WeCompeteAsOne team would like to congratulate Arkady Dvorkovich who was re-elected for a second term as President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

The elections took place on 07.08 during the FIDE General Assembly in Chennai, held alongside the Chess Olympiad, one of FIDE's flagship events. Dvorkovich got 157 votes against 16 for his electoral opponent.

During his speech before the vote he said «…I hope that chess can re-unite people again».

We highly appreciate FIDE’s decision to keep politics out of chess.

In continuation of the current topic concerning ban of Russian athletes from international competitions I would like to share with you important news from the sports world.

Former Russian athlete Elizaveta Polstyana, who received Latvian citizenship in 2018, has been banned from competing at the upcoming Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in September.

According to Elizaveta, the Olympic Committee gave her a condition: either she renounces Russian citizenship and continues to compete for Latvia, or she keeps her Russian passport, but then she will be expelled from the national team.

«Unfortunately, the claim that sports are above politics - these are empty words, however, we have long been convinced of this…I wasn’t allowed to reach the goal for which I have been striving all my life. I was left with no choice, no right to compete in the world championships and to finish at least this season».

I and the #WeCompeteAsOne Foundation strongly disagree with this decision to discriminate against athletes based on their citizenship. Sport should remain the most neutral, open and safe environment for sportsmen and women from all over the world.

The We Compete As One Foundation supports athletes who have been excluded from competitions for non-sporting reasons. The RZD (Russian Railways) Cup @telerzd, the first international women’s football tournament to be held in Russia after UEFA's decision to disqualify Russian athletes from European competitions, starts today. The Cup is held with the approval of UEFA, and we believe that this is a very important and reassuring sign - in the current situation all parties want to support sportswomen and will be happy to reunite the international sports community.

Matches will be held in Moscow at the RZD Arena from July 28 to 31. The winning teams of the national championships of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Serbia will compete in the championship:

2022-07-25 19:01:51 This weekend the #WeCompeteAsOne Foundation held our first public event at VK Fest 2022. We organized basketball and volleyball tournaments with star athletes. Our founder, members of the Board of Champions and beneficiaries talked to Match sports channel and a lot more. It was a blast! 

We are very grateful to the Foundation community, all athletes, Foundation beneficiaries and mentors, VK Fest organisers and all guests, who came to root for us and made this weekend so special. Your support means a lot to us.

2022-06-16 20:19:39 Today, the We Compete As One foundation begins its work with athletes excluded from competition for non-sporting reasons. Our founder @nikitamazepinofficial made the announcement at the SPIEF, where he took part in two round table discussions.

During the round table "Champions: from Medal to Brand", moderated by Vasily Konov @KOnOfff, Nikita, along with Olympic medalists and champions, and famous influencers, discussed how the media image affects personal projects of athletes. By the example of the Foundation, Nikita showed how personal brand helps to promote a charitable project and form a community around it.

Earlier that day Nikita participated in the expert session "Sport: Lifestyle and Business", moderated by Georgy Cherdantsev @cherdantsev. The main topic of discussion was integration of sport and business in modern corporate culture. Nikita shared his personal story about what inspired him to create this unique project and underlined the role sports played in it.
