The head of the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), law professor Richard McLaren, is arguing to return the opportunity for Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions.
He criticized the decision of the organizers of the European Championships in summer sports in Munich, according to which athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus were excluded from the competition.
“The way they are treated is unfair. Athletes were not the initiators of this conflict and are not responsible for its course. Those are two good reasons to let them participate again…If CAS decides in favor of athletes, the federations will be forced to allow them to perform”, - McLaren noted.
