Soon, even homeless people will accept bank cards. Trust me.

More and more people do not carry cash with them, paying by card everywhere. And this is a big problem for super small businesses. For example, for a grandmother selling berries near the road. And we all love these grandmothers.

Mastercard has done a cool activation in Romania. The company launched the Roadside Market program and provided its own bank terminals to farmers trading along the roads on special terms.

Why do I think this is a great activation?

1. This is a real help for sellers who are losing revenue due to lack of cash in people. So there is clearly a social component here.

2. This is the coverage of an unobvious market segment that competitors have not even thought about.

3. This is another step towards universal digitalization. When even a roadside grandmother accepts cards, the motivation to hold cash becomes less and less.

Immediately after the launch, 300 farmers joined the program. I really hope that such programs will expand to other countries.
