Another app that is trying to innovate the way people read is Matter. They are trying to combine a reading app with a social app. This is definitely not the first attempt to do so. At least I can think of Goodreads and Pocket from the top of my head. They are currently in public beta, they have raised $7M dollars earlier in October and they are expanding their team.
