2022-06-13 12:57:00 The Bank of Sweden urged to ban bitcoin

The reason for a possible ban would not be "stability risks to the financial system," as in the case of China and Russia, but environmental considerations.

The Swedish Central Bank published a report in which it shared the results of its own study of mining on the PoW consensus algorithm.

The Riksbank is calling for a ban on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies mined on Proof-of-Work because of the impact on the environment.

Although the proposal is unlikely to be adopted anytime soon, the Swedish government has been moving in that direction for some time now.

In November 2021, Swedish regulators called for a ban on mining in the EU because of obstacles to compliance with the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The American actor bought back the NFT stolen from him in May 2022 from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection. He was the victim of a fishing attack in early May, after which four NFTs were lost, including BAYC #8398.

The monkey was then sold to user DarkWing84 for 106.5 ETH (~$271,400 at the time). Green threatened DarkWing84 with a lawsuit, after which the parties agreed to return the asset.
