Underwater glove transfers octopus abilities to human hand
Researchers at Virginia Tech have developed a glove inspired by octopus tentacles that can safely and accurately grasp objects underwater.
"With synthetic suction cups and multiple tightly integrated micro-LIDAR optical proximity sensors connected through a microcontroller, the octa-glove mimics the octopus' nervous and muscular systems.
The new development can find applications in healthcare, as well as in manufacturing for assembling and manipulating wet objects.
