In 2002, Musk had a son who died at the age of 10 weeks from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome – it was his firstborn. About this loss, Elon told the parents of a boy who died in an accident while driving a Tesla Model S.

"There's nothing worse than losing a child. My firstborn son died in my arms," Musk wrote in an email to father James Riley.
