Bellosi designed this lamp sculpture for Studio Alchimia, an artist collective that emerged on the cultural landscape of Italy in 1976 following the radical movement and that, through their rejection of the soulless nature of functionalism and mass production, paved the way for postmodernism. This group left an indelible mark on the design industry both in Italy and elsewhere and Alessandro Mendini, one of the driving forces in this group, was hugely responsible for that.
