How to overcome procrastination? Three useful tips

Today we will reveal three practical steps of how to fight procrastination:

Acknowledge the problem

Stop blaming. Putting too much pressure on yourself makes things even worse. Try to determine the obstacles: stress, physical problems, fear, self-doubt, lack of time-management skills. After detecting them, deal with it and improve

Remove the distractions

Concentration is what we need while taking on a task. Some people procrastinate as they can't focus: the workload seems too massive. Do you regularly check your social media? Or constantly update e-mail? Try to disconnect as much as possible, set specific deadlines and force yourself to pick out a timeline for a particular task

Establish a reward

A reward system is super motivating! It transforms work into a game: you can get down to what you are eager to do only after you've finished what you are scheduled. Lifehack: you can use distractions (scrolling the feed, watching movies) as a reward

How to enter the tech industry? A plan for beginners

Entering any sphere is challenging. Fears and misconceptions get people off track and prevent them from broadening their career horizons. But it is pretty easier when you have a plan to which you can refer and rely on

Today we want to share a step-by-step algorithm on how to enter the IT sphere smoothly

STEP 1: Choose the discipline. Look through the vacancies, learn trends and the most in-demand technologies. Try to choose a profession that is close to you.

STEP 2. Check the skills you need & already have. Analyze the requirements and list skills you already possess and need to level up.

STEP 3. Try on the chosen profession. Meet and chat with people that are experts in this sphere. You need to find out what they are doing daily and decide whether you are ready to do the same.

STEP 4. Learning and networking. Learn theory, read books and articles, and watch educational videos. Visiting conferences, meet-ups, and searching for mentors would also be a plus.

STEP 5. Gaining practical experience. At this point, you need to transform the theory to practice. Start pet projects, visit hackathons, search for an internship, or try freelance. Make up your CV and be active on LinkedIn.

STEP 6. Interviewing. Pass interviews with recruiters and tech specialists. Get a job or internship. In case of rejection, return to the fourth step and find out which skills you need to upgrade.

What is your biggest weakness?

Surprisingly, this question is asked not to reveal your weak sides. Recruiters mostly use it to determine if you are ready to improve and upskill.

We all have weaknesses, but not all know they can transform into strengths. Example: "Sometimes I pay too much attention to detail, but during my job, it helped me to avoid working disasters."

Why should we hire you?

This point seems easy to solve, but the biggest mistake is that some candidates focus on their most significant achievements without considering what is relevant to the employer. Look through your working experience and think about how your skills may help the company to thrive.

Example: "As I understood from the job description, this position requires the ability to do a few tasks simultaneously. Recently, I've passed the course on multitasking and am ready to apply my knowledge".

Why did you quit your last job?

It might be taken as a red flag if you say something negative about your previous employer. Here's a hiring trick to check whether you are ready to stick to the company for the long term.

Try to emphasize the positive aspects of your professional experience, even if you can name just a few of them.
