Most people trust that antivirus warnings mean something is wrong with their computer, which is why attackers create fake virus warnings to trick you (popups, phony websites, malicious apps that generate fake messages). These might demand payment to "unlock" full security features, or offer a phone number that will connect you to scammers.

Fake Charities, Sweepstakes, and Others. Often, after a natural disaster that makes international headlines, fraudsters will reach out via email or other methods to collect money for a "good cause." Like phishing emails, you should never respond to unsolicited messages like this. If you want to donate to a charitable cause, visit it directly and make sure it's a reputable organization.

If you receive messages claiming that you've won a lottery you never entered, have uncollected debt on an account you know nothing about, or similar, ignore it.

Social Media Fraud is abusing your trust with your social media friends (with hacked account), the attacker might contact you through a messenger. They can send a video link with a message like "Is it you here?" that tempts you to click on it. If you do click, you'll go to a dangerous site programmed to infect your computer with malware. Or they send you a message saying they're in trouble and need .

Buying and Selling Scams. Avoid buying from random websites unless you've vetted them through reputable reviews. If you sell goods on some sites, meet in a public place and only accept cash for the transaction.

Here are common examples of online fraud to help you spot internet scams and avoid falling into traps.

Email Phishing. You receive a claiming to come from a legitimate entity, (bank, email provider). The tells you the company has made some changes and needs you to confirm the information. If you follow the link in these fishing emails,you'll be brought to a fraud site.

Tech Support Scams. Someone calls you and pretends to be from Microsoft or a computer security company. They convince that your computer is infected and coax you into letting them remotely control your machine.
From there, they might steal your data or install ransomware. They'll try to sell you a worthless "security suite" or demand payment for their "services".

Online Dating Scams. Scammers will try to get you to chat on an alternative app, so the dating site doesn't shut them down. Then the scammer can ask you to "cover the cost" of something (package to you, tickets).

You are to open the Camera app, long-press on the shutter button or long-press one of the volume buttons.

There are two indicator lights in the status bar in upper-right corner of the iPhone screen that tell you when one or both of your recording functions are in use:
A yellow or orange-looking dot appears when your device’s microphone is active.
A green dot is when your camera (or camera + microphone) is being accessed.

How to disable camera and mic access for your apps

Open Settings and tap Privacy > Microphone. This will give you a list of all the apps that have requested access to your microphone. Toggle off any you want to disable.

To cut off camera access, go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and toggle off any apps you don’t want using your camera.
