Today's Random Notes

I've decided to share a couple of great word games I play almost daily. They are a wonderful help in the process of building your vocabulary. Note that they are for native English speakers and most likely they will be challenging.

WORDLE is a game my students showed me at the beginning of the year. You're given 6 attempts to guess a five letter word. Each attempt the game highlights the letters with different colors. Grey means the letter is absent from the word; yellow means it's in the word but in a different position; green means the letter is in the word AND is in the same position. The game often uses advanced vocabulary which makes it difficult to play but really beneficial.

CONTEXTO is based on an Artificial Intelligence system that finds thousands upon thousands of words related to one secret word. You are given an infinite amount of attempts to get the secret word. Each word you guess gets a number. The closer this number to 1, the closer your guess is. Let's say you type the word "building" and see it's listed 56th. This means you need to keep looking into words related to buildings. You type "apartment" and see its 7th. You keep guessing until you find the secret word, "door". I simplified it, so you have to try!

Have you tired playing these word games? Would you like to try?
