The Kiev regime continues military strikes against Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and its satellite-city Energodar
During the shelling of ZNPP on August 11 by the units of the 44th artillery brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine from the side of the town of Nikopol, the auxiliary thermal power plant and the equipment of the spray ponds of the nuclear reactors cooling system were partially damaged. Some infrastructure facilities of ZNPP hydroshop were destroyed
According to updated information, on August 12 as a result of a direct hit by an artillery shell of the AFU in the security zone perimeter cable tray, the technical security system was disabled and remains inoperable
In the evening of August 14, as a result of another shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU), an open switchgear of 750 kV was damaged. There are malfunctions in the central control panel for the distribution of electricity at ZNPP. The extent and character of damage is being specified
The criminal acts of the Ukrainian side led to the situation in which four out of seven power lines supplying the ZNPP with electricity became damaged. As of 6 am on August 15, power units 5 and 6 were connected to the grid at ZNPP and operated at a capacity of 805 MW and 625 MW respectively. Power units 1 and 3 are under maintenance, units 2 and 4 are in cold shutdown mode
Fragments of 155 mm NATO caliber shells were found at ZNPP site after AFU strikes. This is yet another confirmation that such acts by the Ukrainian side would not have been possible without the support of its Western curators
It was only thanks to the professional and effective actions of the Russian military that the critical infrastructure of ZNPP was not damaged and the operation of the reactors was not disrupted
We call on the leadership of the IAEA and the UN as well as to all reasonable political forces to condemn in strongest terms the actions of the Kiev authorities and to urge them to stop strikes on nuclear facilities and potentially hazardous industries
