Four years ago, the Crimea Bridge was officially opened connec | Russia in Canada

Four years ago, the Crimea Bridge was officially opened connecting the peninsula with mainland Russia across the Kerch Strait. This huge infrastructure project became a token of Crimea’s reunification with our country and gave a powerful boost to the socioeconomic progress of the peninsula.

The 19-kilometre bridge, Europe’s longest, has two parallel parts – railway tracks and automobile lanes. Only the automobile part of the facility was commissioned in May 2018. Cargo traffic on the bridge was opened in the autumn of the same year whereas passenger trains were launched in December 2019. A regular commuter train traffic was launched in March 2020 between Kerch and Anapa thereby making the regions of the Federation popular with tourists as close as possible.

In 2021, Crimea bridge was crossed by 5.3 million vehicles including 810,000 lorries and almost 50,000 busses. Overall, 18 million vehicles passed through the automobile part of the bridge since its launch.
