Part 2

That’s a neat question. You’ve definitely heard of such term as “dehumanization”.
The matter is that if we recognize another person as human, as a part of our group, we treat them as equal. We are primates, evolution gave us empathy to survive. We simply can’t pull the trigger, or well, at least it becomes much harder to.

And what if this is a non-human? This makes it much easier to spill the blood.
Does the question sound familiar? Does it sound spooky? Well it should.

Looking through all the history you’ll see: each genocide and each murder starts with “they’re less human than us”. So dehumanizing and brutally punishing someone for behavior you can’t accept you suddenly become the one committing atrocities a human can’t do. So there will come another hero who’d say: How could a human even do this, clearly they’re not!
And it will get another turn. Like in that old tale about the undefeatable dragon who turned out to be just a chain of dragon slayers killing each other and turning into a beast themselves until another hero will come to repeat this destiny.

So yes. Love, wisdom and art is just what humans do. Unfortunately so is violence.

And all this what’s written here isn’t about forgiveness at all, but learning the ways one becomes a monster can help not to become one
