Crown Flash Over Miami BeachOne of the rarest natural phenomena - the “dancing beam” resembles a bright searchlight among the clouds.
It's funny, but scientists do not have a clear explanation of what is happening. One of the most popular hypotheses states that the effect is produced when light passes through ice crystals, which change their position due to a change in the electric field of the cumulonimbus cloud.

These two large galaxies are colliding 60 million light-years away! These are the Antennae Galaxies and they’re one of the first research images from the Super Pressure Balloon Imaging Telescope (SuperBIT) that launched on a scientific super pressure balloon April 16, 2023 (local time New Zealand).
This image was captured as the balloon-borne telescope floated at 108,000 feet above Earth’s surface, allowing scientists to view these scientific targets from a balloon platform in a near-space environment.

Goosebumps are a universal physical phenomenon induced by thrills and chills. The hair-raising experience is a result of adrenaline stimulating minuscule muscles that pull at the roots of our arm hairs — in turn, making us bristle with bumps. This happens when we’re cold, when we’re emotional and, according to a pre-print paper released in PeerJ, when some people just feel like it.
The ability to create goosebumps at will is called “voluntary piloerection.” It is very rarely documented: There are only three single-individual case studies published about people with this talent, and scientists don’t have a clue how to explain it.
