WHY do workers experience the Dunning-Krueger effect when assessing their own competence? Incompetent people tend to be higher on the career ladder than their more qualified counterparts as a result of the Dunning-Krueger effect. It suggests that
people with low qualifications are prone to overestimate their abilities, and when they make poor decisions, they are often unable to recognize the error of their choices due to, again, poor competence.
People with high skill levels look at things more soberly and, on the contrary, tend to underestimate their abilities,
and they believe that those around them judge them poorly as well.
