WHY can't light move faster? The geometry of space-time is such that the faster an object moves in space, the slower time flows for it. At the speed of light, the flow of time stops. And a superluminal object would be perceived as moving backwards in time.
This would allow signals to be sent back in time, which would violate the principle of causality. In fundamental physics, the speed of light is taken as the unit of speed,
and other speeds are fractions of this unit. The question then arises differently: why are human movements so much slower than light? The answer stems from the structure of our organs, cells, molecules, and finally subatomic particles, which interact through fields that propagate at the speed of light.
