Vacancy for a Project Manager
(based in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan)
Research Project: Exploring school-based education stakeholders’ perspectives on quality of education in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the context of the Schools 2030 initiative (Global Research Grants)
Research Team: Dr Duishon Shamatov, Dr Mir Afzal Tajik (both from Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education), Dr Sarfaroz Niyozov, Dr Stephen Bahry (both from OISE University of Toronto) and Dr Mehmet Karakus (from Coventry University).
Project Description: This is a global research grant to study the quality of school education in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Funded by the Jacobs Foundation and managed by the Aga Khan Foundation, this two-year research project will support a new international initiative called "Schools 2030" that has been launched in 10 countries around the globe by a consortium of nine international organizations.
The study aims to produce a contextualized, evidence-rich account of what quality teaching and learning means and entails in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The locally-grounded conceptualization of quality will include what meaning and values the local stakeholders attach to the concept, as well as the identification of effective, sustainable, culturally relevant, and contextually workable classroom and school-based practices and ideas and replicable solutions in countries like Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The overarching emphasis on local stakeholder perspectives on meaning and manifestations of quality in education is grounded in the premise that these perspectives inform the entire educational process and the ability of schools and communities to develop school-based initiatives geared towards rewarding, educative experiences that support and address the shared aspirations of multiple groups: students themselves, their parents and communities, school leaders and teachers, education administrators and policymakers. This proposed research project will produce these results through applying a mixed-methods approach to gathering and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
We are looking for a dynamic, full-time Project Manager for our project. We seek candidates based in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The duration of the contract is six months, starting from December of 2021 with a possibility of extending for another six months.
The Project Manager will work closely with the PI and the Project team. He/she is expected to maintain project calendar and timelines, manage financial requirements of the project, arrange meetings (including agenda and minutes) and follow up actions from the meetings; assist with planning of travel for business trips. He/she will also work very closely with two Research Assistants based in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan respectively.
