Make ash soap like this: take half a pot of ash from the stove. Make sure that the ash is birch. Pour water almost to the top and boil for 30 minutes. The decoction is strained, the rest of the ash is thrown on the garden.

The resulting almost transparent gel and is ash soap - cooled and ready for use.

It is clear why our ancestors had no problems with hair till their old age.

As a side note, this soap used to wash newborn babies and their clothes.

You can start a fire with a battery , a piece of foil, and a piece of absorbent cotton when the matches are damp or missing.
Cut a strip out of the foil, with the center of the strip tucked in. Wrap absorbent cotton around the center and press the ends of the foil to the battery terminals. The circuit will close, the thin part of the foil will glow, and the absorbent cotton will ignite. The same principle is used for an incandescent bulb.
