The minimum equipment is a knife and matches. Sometimes a flask and compass are added to this kit.
Matches should be soaked in molten paraffin (except for sulfur heads) and placed hermetically sealed in a flask along with the side (sulfur) of the matchbox.
The flask should be metal welded - so that you can boil water in it. As a last resort, you can replace the flask with a thick polyethylene bag. Tie the filled bag with a string.
