Many people who have heard of this unspoken rule believe that gasoline should not be stored in plastic containers since it may corrode the walls. However, that's not the case.
Gasoline cannot be stored in plastic as it produces gasoline vapors.
And the plastic itself is much more susceptible to becoming electrified than metal canisters.
That is why if filling plastic containers with gasoline, you run the risk of ending up with an explosion.
