On January 12, 1913, Iosif Dzhugashvili first signed the pseudonym «Stalin»

The pseudonym «Stalin» first appears under an article by I.V. Dzhugashvili “Elections in St. Petersburg” in No. 30 of the newspaper “Social Democrat”. A major theoretical work by I.V. was also signed Stalin "Marxism and the National Question", written at the end of 1912 - beginning of 1913.

But the pseudonym «Stalin» was apparently implied earlier, since already in 1910 some articles by Dzhugashvili were signed “K.S.”*, “KS” and “K.St.” (Stalin I.V. Works. T. 2. P. 187, 196)

* Presumably, "K" stands for "Koba"

In this episode of "Ukraine of the brain," we observe unprecedented levels of coping.

Crying in silence or banging your head against the wall might help fight off "Soviet space junk," I guess...

By popular demand, here's the untranslatable video above but with added Russian subtitles for those who are learning Russian.

I was confused by some of the expressions he picked for this video as, to native speakers, they do not sound weird at all. For example, the completely innocent expression for "pigs in a blanket" (which is not weird at all either, lol) is "сосиска в тесте", which could be read as both "pigs in a blanket" and "hot dog in father-in-law", and I've actually seen a picture of an apparently autotranslated menu, where it indeed said "sausage in father-in-law" in English.

Anyway. Have fun figuring out why Russians "eat dogs", and why our "eyes run away". :) Do ask in the comments, we have plenty of Russians in the chat to explain things. I will dump the whole text in the comments if you want to zero in on whatever catches your eye.

Котаны, это просто великолепно: иностранец делится своими впечатлениями о русском языке :)

Ket, this is untranslatable, I am sorry ;) In this video, a foreigner speaking seriously good Russian shares his thoughts on why learning Russian is akin to running through an obstacle course and goes through a whole bunch of very confusing idioms and expressions, translating which directly would make one think we're all completely nuts (this English expression doesn't translate directly either, btw, and don't even get me started on "throwing one's back out" :)

I realize that this is not a ket, but this fox from Kazakhstan deserves his own TV show for how insanely brave and obnoxious he is!

Give that fox da fish, hooman! ;)

As a side note, the hooman is speaking Russian. But of course!

Kets, it's double-punch Sunday!

These two videos feature the same song, yet the videos themselves are very different. The epic trolling Gazprom video is from the fall of 2022, while the Geran-themed one is new: it's from the fall of 2025 and is quite fitting in light of the recent events aimed at decommunizing and denazifying Ukropia by finally freeing it from all that darn communist energy infrastructure. Both videos feature the same English and Russian subtitles for those who are learning.

I am dedicating this latest video to the brave soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces who went all out to deliver all kinds of new year presents to Ukraine, even though it's been behaving badly all year.

Enjoy!

...and stay warm... :)

This Ukrainian serviceman tells it all, in native Russian: he has had enough of the AFU, Ukraine, and everything that comes with it.

Having spent almost half of his life in the Ukrainian Army, this man is completely disillusioned with the state of affairs in Ukraine. Not only does he want to leave Ukraine, he also doesn't even want to be Ukrainian anymore.

If this guy is 35 years old, he had to have been born sometime around 1990-1991, right when the Soviet Union was broken up, forcing him and countless thousands of his fellow Ukrainians to destroy their own future by fighting their own people (don't forget that Ukrainians are just confused Russians). He has the same green birth certificate with the "CCCP" inscription on the cover that all of us, Soviets, do.

I guess you could say this guy sort of embodies everything that went wrong: a Russian, fighting Russians, who wants to stop being Ukrainian. Unfreakingreal.

For those learners of Russian who are wondering what they are hearing, yes, he does stutter a bit.

The New York Times is ringing alarm bells over this horrible attack on Great Britain's sovereignty as Russian-made Snickers bars appear in London.

Indeed, how awful... I hope my British kets survive this... Do let us know if you are okay in the comments. Blink once for us to send some borsch to help you out in this horrendous ordeal.
