A number chart is one of the most useful tools in mathematics for Key Stage 1. Number charts help children to understand the order of numbers, the relationship of numbers to one another, and help with simple calculations. Familiarising oneself with a number chart is the first step of using this tool effectively. We began our lesson with a count to 100 to remember number names.
Next, we played a game all together where a number was covered on the chart and children had to guess which number was there. Finally, children got the opportunity to play the same game with a partner where the partner guessed the number that their teammate hides.
