Laser applications
In medicine, lasers are used as bloodless scalpels, such as in the removal of cataracts and lens replacement.
They are also used in teeth whitening. For this purpose, an oxygen-containing gel is applied to the tooth surface and the tooth is irradiated with a laser.
The laser light causes a chemical reaction in the gel that releases oxygen. It penetrates deep into the tooth enamel and whitens it.
