«I attended a conference in 2017 called
19th International Conference on Solar Power (ICSP). As it was suggested by my supervisor (who had not known that the conference is a scam either), I had not done my research. When I attended the conference, it was in a pretty good hall, but there were no parallel sessions. Although the conference mentioned 91 talks, it only had 36 (including e-posters). They did not update this information till a few days before the conference date.
I reached the hall just to realize there was an agriculture engineering session going on. It was a supposed to be a Solar Power conference and the banner says so, thus, I was perplexed. I just looked optimistic thinking it might be a chance to broaden my knowledge spectrum.
Then things turned to the worst. I was the only person in the hall, among the 36 participants, who presented a solar cell topic. Worst of all, the chairman for the conference asked a whole evening session of participants if we want to really present. He gave us an option to leave without participating in the conference because he wanted to end the conference asap. Since the participants disagreed, the session went through, during the lunch time! Everyone had left for lunch but the evening session participants! With 5 people in the hall, I had to present to people working on magnetic properties of inorganic compounds, and 1 other person working on Linguistics! I thought this was a disaster. The second day of the conference was cancelled (we were told not to attend).
I did not think much about this since I was not publishing in their journal due to their low indexing. But recently, the news that they are a total scam came out in the light in my university, which started investigations. I checked the Beall’s list (list of fake journals and publishers), and WASET was part of it! I just wish I had checked it earlier.
I would suggest not to attend this organization’s conferences, or try to publish in its journal. Most of the details they provide are fake.»
