In 1941, M&M's candies first appeared in the United States. That same year, the U.S. Army placed a large order with the candy manufacturer.

The commanders-in-chief felt that M&M's would be a great solution when choosing sweets as the candies would not melt. During World War II, these candies were only sold to the military.
