The crucial defense here for white was to not take the rook on f5 but instead play 2.Re2. But black can still take the advantage by playing this narrow line :
2...Qb1+ only Kg2! works here and 3...Rxf7!
The reason 3.Kg2! is the only move in this position is because if white tries to make a counter-attack by playing a move like 3.Re1 attacking the queen he gets this nasty combination :
3... Qd3+ leads to a checkmate in 9!
Just to show how it might end up, let's illustrate one main variation in this position.
4.Re2 e3!! If white gets greedy and takes the rook on f5, then this happens : 5.gxf5? Qd1+ 6.Re1 e2#
