​​ Call for Applications: Research Workshop for Post-Graduate Students and Young Scholars

OSCE Academy in Bishkek welcomes applications from young scholars to participate in a research workshop “Connecting Protest Research(ers).” The workshop is part of an ongoing research project, conducted by Dr. Asel Doolotkeldieva (OSCE Academy) in partnership with Dr. Beate Eschment (Zentrum für Osteuropa- und internationale Studien (ZOiS), Berlin) and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The workshop is designed for young scholars from Central Asia and Germany who study the topic of protests and other forms of contentious politics. The multi-day workshop will bring together established experts and young scholars from the region and Germany and provide a platform to discuss not only empirical cases, but also methodological and ethical challenges related to the protest research in non-Western contexts. Participants of the workshop will learn about different methodological approaches to the study of protests and also have an opportunity to present their research projects. The workshop is intended to help young scholars to advance their research projects on protest phenomenon.

Who can apply:
- Citizens from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan*, and Turkmenistan can apply for the workshop.
- Candidates who are enrolled in an MA or a PhD program (aspirant) are welcome to apply to participate in the workshop.
- Interested candidates should have an academic interest in the topic of protests, which they should clearly state in a short research proposal.
- Candidates should have a good command of English and Russian languages. The majority of expert speakers will present in English while the students can present their projects in both Russian and English.
- Participants of the workshop are expected to attend the entire program (3 and half days), actively participate in discussions and present their research projects.
What do we offer:
Participation in the workshop is free of charge. In addition, we cover an economy-class round trip to and accommodation in Bishkek, lunch and coffee breaks during the workshop days.
